Armação dos Búzios
300 DAYS OF
SUN FOR YEAR
Búzios is a beautiful peninsula of 14 kilometers, only 200 kilometers from Rio de Janeiro and with 30,000 inhabitants, being tourism the most important economic activity in the region. The constant presence of warm winds and the rocky coast -forming a safe bay - made Buzios one of the most visited destinations in Brazil. The privileged coast of Búzios is surrounded by 23 beaches, each one different from the other, distributed on both sides of the peninsula.
On the left side, the waters are warmer and calmer protected by the bay, and on the right side, facing the Atlantic Ocean, the beaches are cooler and stormy. All kinds of water sports are practiced in Búzios: sailing, fishing, windsurfing, surfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, diving, kayaking, water skiing among others.
The climate, nature and beautiful beaches are undoubtedly some of the peninsula's strengths. With approximately 300 days of sunshine a year, in winter the average temperature is 25 ° C, reaching in the summer 30 ° C, which, far from being a stifling heat is great for European tourists not accustomed to high temperatures. With abundant fauna and flora, Búzios is special for practicing ecotourism and adventure tourism: Biking, trekking, rafting, free flight, horseback riding and hiking are some of the activities possible to carry out on the peninsula.
For those who enjoy practicing more traditional sports it is possible to play tennis, paddle, or golf. Speaking of golf, Búzios has one of the best courses in Latin America. Designed by Peter and Perry Dye of the Dye Design Company, Colorado-based in the United States, the course has 18 holes in an area of 760,000 square meters with water mirrors and sand bunkers. The course was designed with the aim of incorporating and valuing the geographical features of the terrain, the surrounding nature and the topography, in order to offer the greatest possible comfort to the players.
